What Is One Off?
One Off Minerals is a collaborative project involving several experts in their field—Will Johnson (Natural Creations), Tom Spann (Mineral Masterpiece), Jeff Klugiewicz (Seeke Creative), and Alex Edirisinghe. One Off seeks to provide unique, high quality specimens to customers with the characteristic care and attention you’ve come to expect from us. We’d like to see the hobby grow and thrive in the long run, and our creative projects reflect that vision.
From Will Johnson
Mineral collectors often ask me for a helpful opinion or guidance before purchasing a specimen. They’ll naturally wonder if there’s a better example of the species, or if there are other specimens in the same price range. As much as I’d like to help with such requests, I usually can’t find the time to be of any real service, given the demands of personally managing a very active business (Natural Creations Brokerage) in the premium fine mineral market. To remedy this, I’ve recently teamed up with three of my close friends, with the goal of servicing the mineral community at all levels. Ours will be a company separate from Natural Creations, but with the same level of passion and commitment. The team consists of Tom Spann, prized in the world of minerals for his ability to capture beautiful—yet exacting—photos of specimens. His decades of exposure to tens of thousands of them has given him a vast knowledge of minerals and aesthetics. Another integral member of the team behind the lens is Jeff Klugiewicz, a master of details and a mineral videographer with a meticulous eye for visual impact and beauty. Alex Edirisinghe completes the One-Off team; Al has a ton of passion for minerals and has been very active in all aspects of mineral collecting for two decades. In particular he’s had much exposure to specimens that few get the opportunity to see, which has given him the rare ability to quickly recognize high-quality minerals.
About the Name
Our new business is called “One-Off Minerals.” The name comes from a term often used to describe some of the rare and unique specimens we encounter in our line of work. Our objective in creating this new company is also singular — to help educate, nurture, and guide collectors in whatever direction their individual tastes might take them. We want to do our part in creating a community that not only finds ever-new enjoyment in this fascinating natural resource, but that also appreciates and celebrates one another’s success.
